A new ACM survey has found 70% of coastal-regional voters approve of proposed offshore wind infrastructure in their community.
The survey showed regional communities hosting renewable energy infrastructure want action on climate change, with 66% of the 1300 people surveyed strongly agreeing governments must act quickly to build renewable energy technology to address Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions.
The findings also reveal Opposition Leader Peter Dutton will struggle to find support for his aspirational plan to build nuclear power plants across Australia, with 75% of regional voters saying they oppose nuclear infrastructure in their communities.
