Hunter workers are set to benefit from four new free TAFE courses, designed to develop expertise in engineering, transport, and renewable energy, boost onshore capability, and provide more career opportunities for local workers.
These new courses will ensure workers are well-prepared for the growing demand for sustainable manufacturing in the Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone, establishing a pathway into well-paid, secure jobs in new industry and associated projects like Hunter offshore wind.
Offered through the Hunter Net Zero Manufacturing Centre of Excellence, the courses are the first in a series of short courses, education and training planned for 2025.
The Hunter region is a key focus for emerging renewables and related industries like offshore wind thanks to our industrial history, skilled workforce, and ideal geography. Around 70% of traditional power workers already have the core skills needed to transition into a career in offshore wind.
Hunter Offshore Wind is projected to create upwards of 10,000 jobs directly and indirectly.
